Perhaps your personal information was stolen in a large breach, perhaps you had your purse or wallet stolen, or perhaps you found out someone opened a credit card in your name. Check your credit cards at least twice a month and your credit at least once or twice a year. The envelope and letterhead inside are legit. The letter confirmed the amount of the trust as well as my address as the official address of said trust. Watch your statements and monitor your credit. I'm lost and confused and could really use a point in the right direction.
Many identity thefts result from physical theft. But a credit freeze and doing your own monitoring is cheaper. If my federal tax return comes back as having been already sent and cashed, I will know who to look to and file criminal charges. Also, just to clarify-the letter isn't saying the property itself is in trust, just that a trust exists and is owned by someone who lives at this property. I tried to call them, but they’re closed due to the pandemic. She works in the county courthouse, BTW.
